Dexter Master Bath Design Plan
THE DEXTER HOUSE Last week I showed you guys the current state of the master bathroom at the Dexter House. I think we can all agree that it's not looking too hot. But now that demo is done, it's officially time to start putting this bathroom together. That means it's time to get a design plan together!
I want our master bathroom to be all things white, black, and wood with a little bit of "European garden" feel, a hint of vintage, and a lot of function. Here, have a look:

Because this space is only 36sf (yes, you read that right!), we've had to find fixtures that are small and functional for this bathroom. I found this small wall-mount sink on Wayfair, it's only 11" deep which might just make it the smallest sink I've ever found. But having a small sink will keep leg room at a maximum for the opposing wall's toilet, and that's a definite plus. Here's a reminder at what the floor plan looks like:
I've been hunting for a vintage 5' claw foot tub on Craiglist and local salvage shops. I'm hoping to find one that doesn't need to be reglazed (the finish seems to be more durable and long-lasting than reglazing) for south of $350. We've looked at a few so far, but haven't found the one. But once I find it, we'll scrub it down, paint the exterior black, and install it with a new claw foot shower conversion kit (like this one). One thing I love about claw foot tubs is their stylish feet, and for this bathroom, I plan to keep them plain brass with a rub of mineral oil.
I'm also planning to keep the wood floors natural and refinish them. I've never been one to shy away from wood floors in the kitchens and bathrooms and hopefully that won't come back to bite me in the arse. Time will tell!
Our future master bathroom is only 6'x6' so we don't need much (hell, we can't fit much) - just a few efficient, good-looking fixtures. And this design plan fits the bill. At least I think so. What about you?!

p.s. I love this Nashville singer's amazing historic cottage!
p.p.s. They built a commune and no one came. A strangely fascinating story! Plus how cool are those buildings!
p.p.p.s. Would you house swap? Yes, yes I would!
