What our Mudroom Cost
THE FARMHOUSE
Last week we shared our new mudroom and today I wanted to share what it cost. After a dozen years of renovating old houses, I have to say that rarely does such an inexpensive project create big transformations in a house. But this mudroom has. Read on for the full cost breakdown!
At one point we had dreams of demoing the existing bathroom and this mudroom space and filling the space with custom cabinets. It surely would have been lovely…and expensive. Or if we had DIY’d them, it would have taken forever. And with so many projects still requiring our attention at the Poplar Cottage, we decided stock cabinets were the way to go.
Before and Afters
This mudroom was kind of invented from nothing. It started as a back hallway that lead from the kitchen to the backdoor and housed a hatch to the basement. There’s nothing quite like a side-by-side before and after to see how much time and energy went into a space. So here ya go…
I opted to decorate with things I had on hand. Like vintage picnic baskets (yes I own way too many of them!) and functional things like our first aid box, garden blankets, and sun hats. That definitely helped keep costs down and felt right for a room that’s all about function. Here’s the budget breakdown.
