I wanted to share some of my favorite recent reads with you today! These books have all brought a lot of enjoyment to my life over the past few months and I highly recommend them for Fall. Hope you like them! And please, share your recommendations in the comments - I always love hearing what you’ve been reading too.

Sometimes I read to escape or relax and sometimes I read to expand my world view. These books fall mostly into the former…aka they’re FUN! There are plenty of popular reads on here, but some obscure and old ones too. The common thread…I loved every single one of them.

I’m sharing links to both Amazon and Indiebound today. Independent bookstores could use your support and Indiebound is a great way to find local bookstores. I mostly sustain my reading habit through our local library, and listen to their audio copies on the Libby App. That often means a long waitlist but I find waiting makes for exciting surprises in 4-12 weeks when my books finally become available!

Here are 11 books I’ve enjoyed lately…

This Time Tomorrow, Emma Straub - a delightful read about choices, the love of a parent, and getting to make things right. On Alice’s 40th birthday, her life isn’t terrible and it isn’t great, but when she unexpectedly wakes up on her 16th birthday she gets a chance to change things. The question is what will she change? Yerba Buena, Nina Lacour - love, old houses, and detailed prose about food and flavors…this book had it all! The story follows Sara and Emilie as they grow up hundred of miles apart, find their callings, and journey towards each other while the trauma of their pasts pulls them apart. It’s wonderfully written and narrated (love Julia Whelan!). (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Every Summer After, Carley Fortune - This nostalgic story takes place over six summers and a weekend as teenage Percy befriends the boy who lives next door to her parent’s summer cottage. The two grow together, fall in love, break up, make mistakes, and meet again as adults. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

7 Days in June, Tia Williams - This was a fun one! Shane and Eva had just 7 days together as kids to fall in love and then spend 15 years thinking writing about each other. When they meet again as adults they spend 7 days navigating their past and seeing if they have a future. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Blush, Jamie Brenner - I’m fairly certain I picked this book for the narrator, and I’m so glad I did! It’s the multigenerational story about the family behind Hollander Estates winery, love, finding your calling, and second chances. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

The Summer Place, Jennifer Weiner - a sweeping family drama centered around a beautiful home on Cape Code. Pasts collide as the family is brought together for 21-year-old Ruby’s wedding. So much more than just a beach read, this story has heart and wit and is full of unexpected twists. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Killers of the Flower Moon, David Grann - my sister told me the gist of this story and I had to read it! It’s the almost-unbelievable true story of the Osage India nation in Oklahoma whose land sat on an oil deposit so large that they were the richest people per capita in the world. Then mysterious deaths began to plague the nation. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Counterfeit, Lauren Chen - when college roommates Ava and Winnie meet up 20 years later, the once awkward Winnie is now confident, dripping in luxury, and owns her own business. When she offers Ava a job in what turns out to be a counterfeit scheme, her life changes forever. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

The Last Thing He Told Me, Laura Dave - before Owen disappears, he leaves his wife a note: protect her. Through confusion and hurt, Owen’s wife and daughter piece together what happened to him. This one is full of twists and family drama. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Lessons in Chemistry, Bonnie Garmus - It took me a few chapters but I fell in love with this book! It’s follows a brilliant chemist, Elizabeth Zott, who is confident and brilliant, but faces the challenges of being a working woman in the 1960s. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes a single mother and the star of a beloved cooking show. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Book Lovers, Emily Henry - Like Emily Henry’s other books, Book Lovers is totally addicting and laugh-out-loud funny. Nora Stephens is a successful book editor who is completely unlike the heroines in the books she works on. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)
