All the Farmhouse Paint Colors

THE FARMHOUSE

We wanted to circle back to the Farmhouse today (our last home that we made the difficult decision to sell in 2023) and share all of the paint colors. Over our 7 years living there, we painted almost every inch of the Farmhouse (except the wood moldings) and those colors are still something we get asked about all the time. So when I saw Jessica Helgerson overlay paint colors on a floor plan, I knew I had to do the same. Scroll down for the ‘paint floor plans’, colors, and sheens from every room in the Farmhouse.

Main Floor

Our Farmhouse’s colors were simple, lots of white and wood - Sherwin Williams Dover White on the exterior and Benjamin Moore Simply White on the interior and natural fir floors and trim. And there were some beautiful colors too - a historical pink, a soft beige, and two tones of blue. I wish I could say that I had the paint scheme all figured out on the day we moved in, but this palette took a full 7 years to develop. Good things take time, I suppose ;)

Here are some room-by-room images with the colors noted.

psst: All Farrow and Fall colors were color matched by Sherwin Williams, so they’re not exact (most paint companies say other brands can’t recreate their colors perfectly), but they’re close.

Paint colors are, of course, affected by natural light. I included three photos of Simply White (the kitchen, pantry, and entry stairs) and in each, the white feels different. The kitchen photo was taken in the winter with snow and fog outside to bounce light around and diffuse it. The pantry photo was taken in the early fall when the leaves were starting to change colors outside and there’s a yellow cast on the walls. The stairwell was taken in the Fall but in the early afternoon and with no direct sunlight - it reads flat and cold. Personally I like how the winter light photographs best, but I love direct summer/fall light in person.

Second floor

Now for the second floor of the Farmhouse…

The second story paint color plan of the Farmhouse on the Grit and Polish

The second floor of the Farmhouse has more wallpaper patterns and a simpler color palette than the first floor. Here’s what those colors/papers look like in each room…

Warm, white walls, linen headboard, and brass light in the Farmhouse primary bedroom.
Pimpernel wallpaper by William Morris in the Farmhouse primary suite.
A boys bedroom with nature prints, vintage beds, and BM Simply White walls.

Sheens

I’m kind of particular when it comes to paint sheens and we use the same at each of our projects. Here are our favorites…

  • Walls - eggshell

  • Cabinetry, panneling, and trim - satin

  • Ceilings - flat ceiling paint, tinted to BM Simply White

Semi-gloss is a great choice for cabinetry, paneling and trim, especially in spaces that need cleaned regularly like kitchens and bathrooms. The glossier the paint, the easier it is to clean. But I still prefer the look of satin to semi-gloss so that’s what we use.

Those are all the paint colors in the Farmhouse!
