Does your dog sleep in your kids bedroom? Here's our experience so far...
THE FARMHOUSE
Does your dog sleep in your kids’ bedroom? Or did you share a bedroom with your dog growing up? A month ago, we brought a dog bed into Daphne’s room and now she and Silvi the poodle bunk together. I’m pretty sure it’s what a little kid’s dreams are made of and I wanted to share how it’s going...
dress, sheets, duvet cover, Rosie the doll, + bedroom sources
Daphne hit a rough patch with sleeping around the time she turned 4 and started coming into our room a few times a week. We set up a sleeping bag for her on the floor by our bed, so she wasn’t always waking us up, but it still wasn’t an ideal situation. So we decided to try a slumber party with Silvi and I must say this has been a HUGE success! Daphne started sleeping through the night again and barely ever wakes us anymore. Amen!
I asked Daphne what she thought about sharing a room with Silvi and she said “Silvi makes me sleep better.” When I asked her to elaborate, she said “I’m not lonely anymore.” Sigh.
Of course it helps that Silvi doesn’t shed (she’s a standard poodle) so she’s hypo-allergenic. Growing up, my mom didn’t let our dogs into our bedrooms for fear of allergies, which could really derail a situation like this. Silvi also has the sweetest, most-patient temperament and Daphne’s taken to calling her her sister :) Silvi’s always getting secrets whispered into her ear and being hauled into the bedroom for “sister time”. It really is the sweetest.
While we’re talking about Daphne’s bedroom, I thought I’d share a couple bedding updates. Remember when we changed our her sheets, blankets, and pillows this summer? Well her room has gotten even cozier with the addition of a warm duvet with the cutest cover. Daphne’s room is hands down the coziest spot in the whole house and I look forward to cuddling up with her and reading stories every night.
And when I saw these pillows I couldn’t resist. They’re an investment but so unique and the best quality…
Have I gotten carried away with pattern? Maybe, but I love it :)
