Happy Friday 10/23/20

Happy Friday! How are you? We had a stretch of nice weather this week and took full advantage by ripping out our front walkway. Ha! I mentioned to Garrett the other day that we were going to need to replace the walkway because the concrete was cracked and it was a tripping hazard and the next thing I knew he was on the tractor, pulling it out. Of course then I decided we needed some hydrangeas along the front of the house and Garrett decided we might as well put in a new gate. So now we have no front walkway, no gate, and snow in the forecast…but at least the hydrangeas look nice. 😂 (Hopefully more on this project soon!)

Speaking of flowers, all the fall-hued dahlias were blooming in our flower garden this week and I had to bring some inside. With colder temps in the forecast, I’m guessing this is my last homegrown flower boquet of the year.

This 1929 Farmhouse is so lovely. The colors…the historic details…the antiques. Swoon! (hendrickschurchhill)

Are we trading our happiness for modern comfort? “One of the greatest paradoxes in American life is that while, on average, existence has gotten more comfortable over time, happiness has fallen.” I loved this one. (theatlantic)

I’ve been dreaming of putting this classic wallpaper pattern in the Poplar Cottage dining nook but Garrett just told me he doesn’t like it at all. Anyone with me? (@domino)

One year ago we were just finishing up our laundry room remodel. It’s hard to believe we ever lived without this space!

We take a quality-over-quantity approach to eating meat and this Butcher Box caught our eyes. It’s a monthly subscription box for humanely-raised, antibiotic-free, grass-fed/free-range/wild-caught meat sourced directly from ranchers, farmers, and fishermen. We were so impressed we joined their affiliate program and they’re offering you guys a free free-range turkey in your first box through 11/15. (butcherbox affiliate)

Garrett wanted to add a link in this week’s Happy Friday post…seeking the solar system’s secrets - the OSIRIS REX mission. So cool! 🚀💫 (nytimes)

Have a good weekend!
