Happy Friday 4/17/20

Happy Friday! You guys, they’re here! 16 adorable, fluffy, chirping baby chicks. We haven’t quite settled on names yet (although our 6-year old has a good start) and their home isn’t quite finished, but who can worry about things like that when they’re holding baby chicks?! They’re like little rays of sunshine!

We’ll be sharing more about these gals in the weeks to come and show you their coop construction (so far, we’ve been documenting the process only on Instagram). Eek we’re excited!

More from the week…

Cupid in quarantine. I’ve been thinking about this article all week. For the record, I get the vibe that the author doesn’t have kids, but there are so many great takeaways. Relationships can thrive in close quarters, too. (newyorktimes)

I was going through our ‘Home We Love’ page (the button at the top of our home screen), and seeing this house again - the country house we tried to buy in 2014 - gave me a case of the ‘what if’s’. Sigh I don’t usually dwell on houses we don’t get, but what a beauty!

Joanna Gaines shows off the set of her new cooking show. And yes, the kitchen is just as good as you’d expect! (architecturaldigest)

An adorable chicken coop. We’re designing our chicken coop on the fly (per our usual) but if we weren’t, I’d really consider using this plan from Alyssa. (cottonwoodshanty)

A week of outfits: Joy the Baker. Joy is living out my New Orleans fantasies in the most effortless, cheery style! I just love her. (cupofjo)

Kids won’t stop fighting? A bouncer, a therapist, and a referee weigh in. Hahahahaha. But really, they have great advice. (newyorktimes)

This $70k renovation of a tiny cabin in Oregon is incredible! (dwell)

Composting 101: what, why, and how to compost at home. Anyone else eager to build a compost this year? (homesteadandchill)

Our pandemic summer. The fight against the coronavirus won’t be over when the U.S. reopens. Here’s how the nation must prepare itself. (theatlantic)

I re-watched this movie on Netflix this week while baking in the kitchen, and it was pretty much the ‘me time’ I’ve been dreaming of for a month. Highly recommend! (YouTube)
