Happy Friday 5/22/20

Happy Friday! How was your week? Our’s was slow and uneventful but full of family and thankfulness. We read. We baked. We ate. We gardened. We chatted to family on the phone. We built on the chicken coop. And I spent lots of time in my Birkenstock sandals with thick, wool socks underneath. I’ve always been against the ‘socks and sandals’ look, but turns out it’s the perfect mix of comfort and warmth for this in-between weather and extended time at home. Just saying…

Wishing you a calm, restful Memorial Day weekend at home. Stay safe!

More from the week…

I’ve been staying up later than I should this week, reading The Nightingale. My goodness, it’s SO good! (Amazon and Indiebound)

A charming 1880s farmhouse filled with antiques, but it’s the outside that really makes me swoon! (homestolove)

4 rules for identifying your life’s work. Food for thought. (Atlantic)

The no reno house that looks completely renovated. I’m impressed, especially with the bathrooms! (stylebyemilyhenderson)

The lovely Zoë François’ beauty uniform. Talk about gray hair goals. (cupofjo)

Ashley made vintage-inspired, custom home postcards and I want to, too. I know a lot of cousins and small friends who would love to get these in the mail! Let’s bring back pen pals. (thegoldhive)

Mom-shaming ourselves. “Social media has made me feel both insecure and ashamed of the ways in which I am doing quarantine.” (newyorktimes)

We had a birthday to celebrate this week and German Chocolate Cake was requested. This recipe did not disappoint, even with a couple substitutions 😉. (tastesbetterfromscratch)

We’re all learning that life is not found in material possessions. (becomingminimalist)

Erin’s beautiful kitchen remodel has been a favorite in recent years and I loved getting a look at her budget. If you’re thinking about renovating, reading up on actual budgets is a great first step! (erinkestenbaum)

One year ago today, we finished our garden patio and it really, really changed how we live in our Farmhouse!

Summer’s only a month away, so it’s time to share a new Spotify playlist: ‘summer at home - 2020’. I hope you enjoy this one! ps if you’re new to Spotify, it’s totally free to enjoy and easy to use! (Spotify)

Have a great weekend!
