Happy Friday 8/14/20
Happy Friday! How are you? We’re 2 1/2 weeks into having my sis and her kids at the Farmhouse and between you and me, I’m ready to start a commune. This is what I’ve learned so far: 3 kids + 3 kids = basically 3 kids. 2 parents + 1 parent = a bazillion parents. Seriously. Our home is staying cleaner than it has in years. And the kids are one parent up and getting along so well and living their best summer camp life. So about that commune… 😉

More from the week…
This home in Maine feels like it’s been here forever. Wow! (housebeautiful)
The end of open-plan everything. “Open plans were so tantalizing to some people that they spawned their own celebrities: Chip and Joanna Gaines, a pair of evangelical Texas parents, became huge stars, complete with their own product lines, shops, and restaurants, by demolishing seemingly every interior wall in Waco. But this spring, walls both partial and permanent got the advocate they needed: the pandemic.“ (Atlantic)

Can we make bed curtains a thing? I’m obsessed! (@sabbeinteriordesign)
These polenta bowls are on my list. Andrea’s cookbook introduced us to grits bowls and they’ve become a staple. (dishingupthedirt)
My gray hair is finally 100% dye free. But my twin sister still dyes her’s and here’s more on that.
Zillow Group CEO Rich Barton on ‘The Great Reshuffling’ and a ‘tectonic shift’ in real estate. Interesting and crazy and just not what I was expecting. (geekwire)
The person you want to be won’t happen by accident. “The second law of thermodynamics states that “as one goes forward in time, the degree of disorder of any system will always increase (or at least stay the same).” In other words, without constant attention and reordering, our lives will trend towards chaos, rather than order.“ (becoming minimalist)
Big news, Belathèe launched a print shop! Love their photography! (belatee)
Currently on my nightstand: The Yellow House. Non-fiction isn’t my go-to but this is a National Book Award winner and it’s about an old house (!) and I’m really excited to dig into it. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)
Have a good weekend!
