Happy Friday 8/21/20
Happy Friday! We snuck away for a little vacation in central Oregon this week to enjoy the summer before it slips away. Highlights included: staying at a house in walk/bike-friendly Black Butte Ranch with my sister’s family, floating down the Deschutes River, finding the most beautiful waterfall (below), eating our weight in nectarines, Oregon beer, playing at Clear Lake, and generally spending as much time outside and away from people as possible. Breaks are good!

More from the week…
Set parents free. “Everyone is terrified of both sickness and censure. Are there better ways to raise our children amid a pandemic?” (nytimes)
Pinning every single image from this home tour: after a few “bad ’80s hairdos,” this Georgian home Is a flower-filled retreat. (domino)
This week Yellow Brick Home taught us to love colorful retro bathroom fixtures. Love, love, love how this space turned out! (yellowbrickhome)

Can we talk about natural deodorant for a second? This one is my favorite right now. (amazon affiliate)
We stopped by the John Day Fossil Beds this week and it was just too hot to enjoy them (we saw 108 on the car thermometer 😳). But on our drive there we passed through Antelope, OR and my sis told me about this documentary. I read up on the Rajneeshpuram community on the drive and all I can say is truth is stranger than fiction. Wow! I can’t wait to watch this one! (Netflix)
What’s your interior style? (bobbyberk)
Spent some time on Urban Exodus this week reading through real stories of people swapping city living for a more rural existence (like this one!). It’s a great site if you’re thinking about moving to (or just dreaming about) the country. (urbanexodus)

A 1960’s California ranch home gets a new lease on life.
I might be alone in this, but I read less when I’m on vacation. The kids are up later and there’s just less time to sneak away with a book. But Garrett just wrapped up Ta-Nehisi Coate’s Between the World and Me, and loved it. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)
Have a great weekend!
