Help Us Pick a Wallpaper for the Primary Nook!
THE FARMHOUSE
Just as Garrett was adding texture to the fresh drywall in our primary nook, he made an off-hand comment about wallpaper that I could not get out of my head. He is SO right - this little nook is screaming for some color and pattern. So after Garrett takes off that texture he just added (sorry G 😬), we’ll be wallpapering!! Now to pick a paper... I’ve narrowed it down to 9 of my favorite Morris prints and would love your feedback. Check out the renderings below and tell me…which one would you choose?!
Considerations
Liking a paper is more of a gut thing IMO, but liking a paper for a certain space means taking a few things into consideration and I wanted to walk you through those… First, our bathroom design is gloriously simple - white, wood, and marble - so some color and a bolder print will work well in here. The bathroom walls are already painted in BM Simply White (it’s our go-go white and we don’t even have to think about it) and all the wood will be stained dark like the vanity and window. We have plenty of natural daylight in here, mostly west-facing. And the tile floors are carrara marble while the nook’s fir floors will remain wood - a refinish and clear sealer are in order, so you can expect those to end up lighter and less-orange. What I’m looking for in a paper is something warm and welcoming - a soft element against all those bathroom finishes. I was drawn to the green tones, but blue looks pretty in here too.
Morris samples
Let’s talk about the samples I have hung up. I’m a bit of a wallpaper-commitment-phobe so I decided to stick with classic Morris prints, many of which have been around for 100+ years, proving that they will stand the test of time. Not to say there aren’t some great modern prints out there, because there 100% are, but sticking with Morris felt like an easy way to narrow down the field and sleep a little bit easier. Plus I’ve always wanted to use one of his prints and haven’t got to yet, so it felt like the perfect time. I went through my way-too-large collection of wallpaper samples and picked out these…
Which one do you like best? Pretty sure I have a favorite…but we’ll see.
