Some of my Favorite Landscape Art Prints

I’m starting to wrap my head around the finishing touches for our primary bathroom remodel (a little early I know, but that’s how I roll ;) and was shopping for art over the weekend. Artwork totally completes a space IMO and I like to mix vintage and new, prints and originals. Today I wanted to highlight some of my favorite landscape art prints from both vintage artists and their modern counterparts.

I love to shop for vintage artwork for our house, but the hunt can take a long time. But prints are more accessible. I love that anyone can get their hands on prints, they’re generally more affordable, available in many sizes, support artists, and I can link my favorites for you as a source (rather than that vexing “sorry it’s vintage”). I feel like they make art more approachable when original pieces can seem like a heavy lift.

Modern landscape artists

I’ve rounded up some of my favorite landscape prints from modern working artists below - their Instagram handles and websites are listed so you can dig into their work. This is in no way a comprehensive list and I love discovering new artists, so please leave a comment with your favorite artist (or yourself if you’re an artist!) so we can all check them out!

Vintage landscape prints

Now for the vintage prints. Most of these images are part of the public domain, and are either located at a digital print shop or a museum or other institution’s website. The later is free to download (yes FREE!) but you’ll have to take the extra step of uploading the image to a print shop to crop and get it printed (see the note below for how I do this).

a note on public domain art

One thing I wanted to mention about this list is that some of the artist’s names are missing. This information is sometimes lost to time but sometimes it’s purposefully excluded after the piece enters the public domain (these pieces can legally be used, altered, and sold without attribution). I have thoughts on this, and concerns, but you will find pieces below that aren’t attributed. Some print shops out there like Juniper strive to attribute the artists and support the institution hosting the work, and some do not. Kadie started the Public Domain Art Shop precisely because of this and I highly recommend checking out her well-curated collections for more great FREE art.

*art can be downloaded to your computer as a high resolution JPEG and then uploaded to a printing sight such as iPrintfromhome.com. I usually print on their Somerset Velvet giclee although I’m going to try their unstretched canvas giclee next. I’ve heard Simply Framed is good too, although I haven’t used them yet, and they will print and frame.

Do you have any pieces to add to this list? I’d love to find some landscapes by artists in the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, but didn’t have a lot of luck finding them in my search. So please leave a comment if you know of any landscape artists we should check out!
