Decorating with Greenery at our Seattle Airbnb

THE DEXTER HOUSE

We love decorating with greenery in our homes. Plants and flowers add a natural element that give a space a welcome, calming feel. But at our Seattle Airbnb we just can’t keep greenery alive. Enter Afloral’s beautiful (and realistic) faux stems and flowers…

I’ve long admired Afloral’s products and have a couple of their vases and faux flower arrangements in the Farmhouse. It was long past time to bring these permanent botanicals to our Dexter House Airbnb in Seattle, too. It’s amazing what a few arrangements of faux stems, dried flowers, and faux potted trees can do to liven up a house! They brought the joy of nature inside, with zero of the maintenance. Have a look…

Vase, branches

I love the look of cut branches arranged wildly in a big vase. This time of year, I especially like to go with darker leaves to embrace the changing season and opted for these purple-hued stems. They perfectly contrast with the cream vase.

The dining room connects the living room, kitchen, and back hallway together - it’s basically the hub of the house. So I filled this space with foliage to set a calming, comfortable, and cheery tone. There’s a big arrangement of branches in a vase on the table, olive branches on the floor, and a potted tree in a vintage crock in the corner.

Potted olive tree

I dropped the olive tree into a crock for a little heft and a vintage feel. After years of trying to keep trees alive in this awkward corner, I’m so thrilled with this adorable tree that takes zero water!

I have to mention how realistic these olive branches are! I have had multiple people tell me how pretty they are and ask me where I cut them from. Even Garrett was shocked when I told him they were faux!

Afloral also offers preserved flowers and I felt like the kitchen was the perfect place for these dried hydrangeas in a ceramic pitcher. The color is SO pretty!

Clay vase, chestnut branches

For the bedrooms, I love to bring in greenery on the nightstands. These chestnut-hued branches are the perfect nod to Fall and add a wild, cozy element to the airy primary bedroom.

The other two bedrooms at the Dexter House are small, so the bouquets are similarly sized. But these permanent hydrangeas still leave a big impression. They’re bright and incredibly real-looking and add a spark of life to these quaint rooms, especially in the Fall and Winter months when there’s not much green left outside.

Afloral’s products are carefully curated with quality, beauty, and environmental-impact in mind when decorating with greenery. These stems should last years and years and always look fresh, providing our guests with a natural, homey feeling. And for us hosts, they mean zero water and zero maintenance. A win-win!
