Happy Friday 12/4/20

Happy Friday! How are you? It’s been all Thanksgiving clean-up and Christmas prep around here. And I have to admit, I got a littttle carried away with the garlands. Thankfully Garrett stopped me before I wrapped our entire house in greenery and we ended up with a nice, manageable amount of holiday decor. Phew!

More from the week…

It’s Garrett’s birthday tomorrow and all this hard-working husband of mine asked for were these bluetooth ear muffs. After he spent the week crawling around under the Poplar Cottage the least I could do was get him a ‘A Promised Land’ too. (amazon affiliate, indiebound) And you better believe there will be cake!

Ben and Leigh’s home has long been a favorite of mine and their holiday decorating is always THE BEST (scroll to the end for the holidays). Eagerly watching on Instagram to see what they do this year!

The cheeriest bathroom I ever did see. (@themisfithouse)

My 5-year-old and I watched Dance Dreams: Hot Chocolate Nutcracker on Netflix this week and loved it. Here’s the trailer. (YouTube)

Made me laugh: in defense of the pet snail. But really…I could get behind it! Could you? (NPR)

A fitting mysterious end to a mysterious thing. Have you been following the monolith (made by alien, goverment, artist…?) found in the Utah desert? I’m captivated! (nytimes)

The cutest old farmhouse in the heart of…Brooklyn! I can’t believe the history of this stunning home. (@circahouses)

We haven’t shared much at the Poplar Cottage lately because there’s just not much to see during rough-in, but this door makeover made me so happy.

Is downsizing what we expected?” My sister sent me this after I’d already devoured it. It’s a fun read if you’re into walkability, sunshine, and efficiently-sized houses. I’m so inspired by John and Sherry’s downsizing/Florida move! (younghouselove)

THIS green kitchen! I especially all the aged copper pans on the wall. (remodelista)

Ooooo this asymmetrical mantle garland is so beautiful! (ispydiy) psst: here are a few tips to keep that natural holiday greenery fresh longer.

Currently listening to The Vanishing Half (it had me at identical twin 😉) and it’s so good! (amazon affiliate, indiebound)

Have a good weekend!
