Happy Friday 7/17/20
Happy Friday! I love daisies. You too? They’re simple and carefree and beautiful and when Garrett and I got married almost 15 years ago, we asked his mom to grow some for our wedding. She brought buckets of the blooms to our fall ceremony and they were perfect. Over the years we’ve transplanted those daisies into the yards of the homes we’ve fixed up and lived in, so now, in the summer and fall, wedding daisies can be found blooming outside of our rentals. I picked a few at the Dexter House last week and they made me smile. So I thought I’d share some with you. Hope you’re staying safe, staying sane, and have a good mask!
More from the week…
Gardening made me happier. It will work for you too. “Beyond the physical activity and the satisfaction of cooking with and eating the crops that our work yields, gardening gives us access to sensory experiences we don’t typically have in modern urban life…“ Loved this and feel so fortunate to have a garden. Trend alert: sculptural marble backsplashes. Well we’re obviously on board! Also, it made me giggle to be included in an article that starts with the world ‘trend’ 😉 (remodelista)
Highly recommend this podcast: 1619: an audio series on how slavery has transformed America, connecting past and present through the oldest form of storytelling. (nytimes)
It’s hot and I broke down and ordered two summer dresses: a stripped linen-cotton dress and a casual shirtdress. Both are on sale (use codes ‘STYLE’ and ‘MORESALE’) and have pockets! (gap affiliate)
Wow! I loved every single image from this backyard makeover by Apartment34. Just wow! (apartment34)
An oldie but a goodie: the benefits of slow parenting. I recently re-read this article and it felt significant. (bostonglobe)

You guys, something is happening to me. I’m craving color and pattern and more color. Loved this loft (those cabinets! those green walls!). (remodelista)
I know ‘The Giver’ is a young adult book but I devoured it in a day. Loved the narrator and even dug the weird, retro music in the audio version. (amazon affiliate, indiebound)
Have a good weekend!
